Your Major Definite Purpose
One of my meditative practices now is reviewing my life. It has a sort of purifying cathartic effect that makes it highly worthwhile for me in spite of the difficulties. I try to do this daily now, but, well, let's just say, I do my best.
One of the memories I dug up was from my time in Canmore, many years ago. I was experiencing a kind of crossroads. I had the opportunity to take a Brian Tracy course, sponsored, and so I took it. If Brian Tracy is not 100% spot on on everything he says (I don't think he is), I can certainly say his course was quite worthwhile for me. One of the 'nuggets' I took away from the course was that you need to be aware of your major definite purpose in life. If for any reason you do not know what your major definite purpose in life is, then your major definite purpose is to find your major difinite purpose in life.
That was more or less where I was. I was much younger and still felt I was destined for greater things in life although if you pressed me hard, I would not have been able to articulate that any further. Nothing unusual. I adopted his thinking. My major definite purpose in life was to find my major definite purpose in life.
The funny thing was, as I look back, I knew what my major definite purpose in life was, although I did my best to ignore, deny or forget it completely. As things would have it, my major definite purpose in life gradually reared its head and asserted itself in my life. Now it is clear to me.
My major definite purpose in life is to clean my life, from the inside out. I have other targets, purposes and goals, but they are all subordinate to that major one. Living in accord with that major definite purpose reduces stress and makes life simpler. It is clear and easy to see and understand things when your major definite purpose is certain. Motivation is much less of a problem, too. All these things are amplified when your life is clean and uncluttered. My major definite purpose in life therefore becomes a virtuous spiral, making itself better. I feel I have discovered the flywheel in my life and how to apply force to it.
