Black pepper is a great addition to any meal, maybe not any mail but lots of them.
When I was a kid I used to put black pepper on my potatoes and on actually quite a few other things that I ate.
But black pepper has some interesting properties that are good for our health and can make you feel better.

Black pepper was known as the king of spices and it stimulated the spice trade
and all the European exploration around the world.
Because spices were so yummy, people paid a lot of money for them.
But they were also quite rare so the cost went even further.
That gave people a lot of reason to go in search for a cheaper way to get these spices.
And that led to a lot of exploration and changed the history of the planet.
Black pepper isn't just a delicious addition to many meals.
It's got a lot of health benefits.
Black pepper can help with brain functions and even enhance your thinking ability,
but not really very much so don't go in and eat too much of it at once.
It also has anti-inflammatory properties and can help with arthritis.
It can also help lower your cholesterol.
There's actually quite a few benefits to eating black pepper.
But one of the cool things about black pepper is that
if you mix it with turmeric black pepper can help turmeric help your body.
You see, turmeric has curcumin in it which is a pretty interesting molecule.
This thing can help you, it can help your health quite a bit.
The problem is we don't naturally absorb it into our blood very much.
When you eat turmeric you only get a little bit of the curcumin.
But if you mix it with black pepper, the piperine in the black pepper can actually change your intestinal wall so that more of the curcumin gets absorbed into your blood.
What this means is
if you mix turmeric and black pepper and eat it you get more good benefits.
It can actually help relieve pain.
Now I'm not going to talk about turmeric too much here because my topic is pepper, black pepper.
But black pepper has an interesting way of helping turmeric help you
so if you're looking for new healthy foods do a little research on black pepper,
and while you're at it do a little research on turmeric too.
